Sr. Sonia Sangel, FdCC
Hi, I am Sr. Sonia Sangel, Canossian Sister from the Philippines and a missionary in Timor-Leste. I came to Timor-Leste in 2000 right after the bloody revolution for independence. I am by Profession a teacher and a nurse with specialization on Billings method and on Clinical Counselling. My mission in Timor-Leste called me to work on professional formation of young people on skills and competence offered at Canossa Training Centers in Baucau and Suai like hospitality and general administration. Recently I work at Canossa Training Center in Lecidere for Language Courses for English, Portuguese and Computer skills. These courses generally aim for capacity building and empowerment of youth with skills and competency to enable them to live with dignity able to find work and support themselves and families.
Sr. Elsa de Jesus da Silva, FdCC
Accountant and book keeper / English tutorial class
I’m from Lospalos. I have belonged to the Canossian sisters since 2001. So I’m a Canossian sister. Actually I live in the Canossian Sisters convent in Becora-Dili. My motto is based on the Gospel passage in Matter 7:2 - “The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you“
It means that do to others what you want others to do for you. This is a golden rule, though. I like it so much in my entire life. I hope to live it in my daily life.
The thing I really hate in my life is the unpunctuality. Personally I have a desire to be punctual wherever I may be. I try to be on tim, because time is money for me.Hopefully you who read my short description will respect the punctuality or being on time in any occasion. That’s all from me! Bye… Cheer up! Smile always and do good to others!

I am from East-Timor, Ermera municipality. I studied at UNTL from 2011 and I graduated in 2017 in the Faculty of Education Science Arts and Humanity, major in English Department. I have been working as an English teacher at CMTC since one and a half year.
For sure, I love being an English teacher for the reasons that I love to serve people by teaching and sharing the knowledge and skills I learned throughout my study years. As well, I am very proud and happy of being a teacher, because teaching is receiving. Once I teach, I will also learn at the same time.
My message for you is: Never give up to improve your abilities, because learning never has a time limit while you are still making a pilgrimage in this world.

I am from Ghana in West Africa. I have been teaching at CMTC since July 2019. I am socialable, jovial and open to everyone. I like my students to be punctual in class, participate in class activities and ask anything they don't understand. My philosophy is: Believe in yourself that you can do anything you intend to do. Think positive and let the fear of God be your aim in life.

Charlotte Bock
German volunteer
I am a MISEREOR volunteer and I come from Aachen in Germany. In August 2019 I came together with Johanna to Easttimor to get to know the Timorese culture and exchange experiences with young people from another country.
In July 2019 I graduated from Highschool and decided to come to Easttimor for ten months to support the CMTC staff and share my experiences.
Working together with young Timorese showed me, that even if our culture and life can be very different we all can learn from each other and share our dreams.
PS : If you see us, don’t be shy, just talk to us :)

I am from Hamburg which is a city in the North of Germany. I'm eighteen years old and graduated in summer 2019 from high school. Afterwards I came, together with Charlotte, as a volunteer of the organization MISEREOR to East Timor to support the CMTC and its teaching staff. I love to work here, because I can empower the Timorese and help them improving their English skills. Until I go back to Germany and will begin to study at university, I wish to gain many new experiences and expand my horizon.
